In the past 2 years, residency programs have been noticing a very unusual rise in CS exam failures. A CS exam failure coupled with a lack of hands-on clinical experience will often keep an applicant from obtaining interviews and matching into a U.S. Residency program.
Do not let an attempt on the CS exam to be the end of your dreams! The CS exam is a practical exam and preparing for the CS exam requires a different approach. Although you may be technically knowledgeable, nothing can possibly replace hands-on clinical experience in helping to acclimatize an IMG to the U.S. clinical system.

Testimony of externship:
I’m a Japanese physician, and took a break from internal medicine residency in Japan. I’ve been dreaming to get into American residency program for long years. As you know, externship experience in the US is a “must” in your CV when applying to residency programs. However, due to hospital security problem, it is almost impossible to find an externship without help. This is why I decided to get an externship through FMGaffordable.
My first assignment was Dr. Harry Li, a primary care physician. He is a wonderful doctor with a sense of humor which makes every patient smile. I learnt from him not only medical knowledge but also the way how to make patients comfortable with humor. I saw what a primary care physician is like in the US medical system. He was so kind that he treated me nicely as if I were his own son. I’m really happy to have spent time with him.
My second assignment was Dr. Gayatri Nimmagadda, a board certified physician in hematology and medical oncology. Honestly say, she is one of the best physicians I’ve ever seen. She is a really kind woman with warm heart. She truly cares about her patients, encouraging cancer patients in despair with warming words. She also has amazingly broad medical knowledge. Though hematology and medical oncology is one of the toughest specialties to catch up with the latest treatment, she knows all about it. In addition, she has sound knowledge about general internal medicine as well. It’s simply amazing. She tried to teach me as much as possible with every patient encounter and I learnt a lot. She is a great physician and a wonderful teacher.
